David Buckingham
David Buckingham (b 1958) is a sculptor of found sheet metal, sourced from discards he scavenges from all around Southern California. Retaining the unaltered color and condition in the metal he finds, it is cut and shaped into text, images, and abstract patterns which reference cultural touchstones and political moments. A former advertising executive with a sharp wit and a critical eye, Buckingham presents strong ideas which elicit profound responses.
Here, he has created a unique print in collaboration with Bert Green Fine Art in Chicago, and Aardvark Letterpress in Los Angeles. "STARFKR" is based on a larger metal sculpture of the same design.
